Motherhood is not meant to be done alone, we are meant to go through this journey with other mama’s by our side, passing down knowledge and support. A village. But in todays modern world, more of us live further away from our families then ever before, more of us are working full time then ever before, parenting expectations are higher then ever before and we have social media constantly showing us perfect mama’s with perfect children in perfect homes, it is impossible to keep up with! But still we push ourselves to do it all! 

What if we brought that village back? What if you had other mama’s to tell us “yes it is hard, yes it is overwhelming, it is normal to feel this way”. How would that change the way you are as a mama? How would that change your expectations of yourself? How would that change the way you speak to yourself? 

The Mama Balance Space can be that village for you. A community of mama’s supporting each other, a space to step away from the busyness that life demands from us and step into our true, authentic selves.

Why is understanding Matrescence so important?

Without shared matrescence, we don’t feel safe to express how we are feeling. We don’t talk about how we feel because no one else is talking about it so we must be getting it wrong, we must be failing, so we hide it, we internalise it and we experience guilt, shame and isolation. We self silence and we become superwomen – trying to do it all to prove we can, to try be worthy. We have a completely unrealistic expectation of what it means to be a ‘good mother’, to balance work/life/motherhood/relationships

Understanding Matrescence is the missing puzzle piece. Having this new understanding gives permission and relief for the experience. For someone to say “yes, you’re going to feel this way, it’s normal, it’s a beautiful invitation to really consider your beliefs and values and decide who you want to be.
